Lola's Last Evans, aka "Mom", has joined our family from North Dakota. Bruce was raised in Forbes, North Dakota, on Spring Water Ranch. Bruce's folk, Iver and Lola Tveit, raised foundation bloodline quarter horses. The first registered quarter horse brood mare, "Maude Evans" was owned by Lola and Iver. Along with Maude Evans, other quarter horses owned by Lola and Iver were Al Buchli, Al Buchli Jr. Evans, Miss Dakota Evans, Candy Bar Evans, Little Wren Evans, along with many more. The Evans registered name carry bloodlines of King Trumpet, Peter McCue, John Hancock, Traveller, and Doc Bar. Iver and Lola passed away a few years ago. Bruce moved to Wisconsin, and parted with his last horses that he had in his folk's memory.
In April of 2008, a little filly was born in Dickinson, North Dakota, at the ranch of Tina and Adam Gustafson. Jody is a member of Just Horses and Family internet group, along with Tina. Two people that have never met face to face, but had something very much in common. The filly that was born to Tina's quarter horse, Sugar, was the grand-daughter of Candy Bar Evans. Jody had found one of Lola and Iver's bloodline fillies, and now was hoping to possibly bring a little North Dakota and "home" back to Bruce. Jody contacted Tina, and explained the story behind this little filly and shared some pictures of the Evans bloodlines.
Four months later, a little memory of Spring Water Ranch, was on her way to Wisconsin. This little filly was named after Bruce's mom, and will soon be registered as "Lola's Last Evans". Her barn name is Mom. Mom arrived on August 11, 2008 at 11 p.m. A tired little filly from a long trip, but happy to be home.
